Kat of the Musicals

This week was some of the craziest weather Sydney has seen in a long time- we had some really heavy storms with so much wind and rain… Perfect weather for staying indoors on the couch with Kdrama I say, but alas outside life must go on!

What it did mean though was that the temperature was a lot colder than it had been, and the cold rainy weather had me craving one of my favourite comfort foods- kimchi jjigae! That happy bubbling pot of the spicy warmth of kimchi and the cosiness of tofu… ❤

This is the jjigae we made on my Korean cooking course! (the wine glass had water in it, nobody needs wine when one has jjigae!)

I ended up getting two pots on two separate nights, hehe. I find it makes my BBQ + rice meal complete (as is traditional!)

So! My first was from BBQ City on Liverpool St. It was really delicious- full of tofu, pork belly, tteok and naturally kimchi. I did find it almost a little bit too spicy for me though. But otherwise YUM!

My second was from Seoul-Ria on Goulburn St. I got the mushroom and tofu one, and the stew was really perfect (not too spicy and really nice and rich) but perhaps too many mushrooms… Otherwise, YUM! keke.

I really ought to practice making my own more often, I think I shall this winter (and I’ll make sure to share my results!). At the Korean cooking course we went to we learnt kimchi jjigae, so I really have no excuse!

In terms of Korean recipes I usually follow Korean Bapsang, and doesn’t her jjigae look amazing?

Photo belongs Korean Bapsang! I wish I could make jjigae that good looking...

Mmm, yum! Now what I need is to buy a good pot… ^.^
